Kumamoto is a lot of special foods. There are special foods such as ikinari-dango, karashi-renkon, taipingyan and basashi. I have eaten them since childhood. But I don't like karashi-renkon. I perticularly like basashi.
I'll talk about Ikinari-dango. Ikinari-dango is Kumamoto’s local food. It means that it makes easily dumpling. This is called “Ikinari-dago” in dialect of Kumamoto. It stands for a sweet potato and bean jam.
Secondly, I’ll talk about Taipingyan. Taipingyan is one of the Chinese food, and healthy food. To put of it shortly, it is a bean-starch vermicelli soup. It is served for the school lunch recently. The ingredients are shrimps, cuttlefishes, pork and chinese cabbage etc.
Thirdly, I’ll talk about water melon and melon. Water melon is a special product of Ueki. Also melon is one of the Kumamoto’s special products. There is the melon dome in Ueki, and taste a lot of kind of melons.
Also, the special foods of Kumamoto are Dango-ziru, Kumamoto noodle and Mushagaeshi. The sea foods are laver, clam and prawn. As you can see, there are a lot of special foods in Kumamoto. Everybody eat!
